Congratulation to our Sophie! Youth Mindfulness App Idea Selected for Samsung Adappt Initiative

Sophie, one of our front desk superstars continues her passion for helping people outside of her time at CSMC. Sophie helps out with a youth mental health organisation called Shout Out! based in Darwin; creating and monitoring a lot of their online social media and their administration. One of her initiatives was to create an online directory for mental health services in Darwin - making it easier for youth to find mental health services suitable to their needs.

Shout Out - Youth Mental Health

But the BIG news is that they then came up with another innovative idea - a youth mindfulness app, In The Zone . They pitched the idea to Samsung as part of the Adappt initiative which joined forces with Suicide Prevention Australia to put the callout for the most innovative Big Idea for a mental health app, and they WON !!! So the next stage is a 3 day intensive bootcamp where they will learn how to create the actual app and make it accessible to the public!

“Samsung Adappt is a movement of young Australians designing apps that make a difference. Samsung believe that apps are about more than stalking friends or sharing selfies or ordering takeout. You know, making human life comfier. In fact, we’re just crazy enough to believe that this technology can be about something more… making human life better.”
